I think part of the appeal is the abundance of green, a color we see little of in Southern California in August. Outside of the verdant Los Angeles metropolis with its illicit watering, despite the new water laws (sprinklers only twice a week on Thursday and Sunday), everything is a very worn shade of terracotta or dried mud brown.
Can't you almost taste the rain in the patchwork of green above?
