Very few people in this town made me feel as welcome or as relevant as Variety columnist Army Archerd, who died today at the age of 87. He was a gentleman through and through. He kept his word, returned phone calls, listened patiently to your pitch (even it was a bit weak) and maintained a sense of humour throughout. He sweetly wrote about the birth of both my babies, in 1990 and 1995, at Cedars Sinai. I felt incredibly honored.
His Variety obit is here.
Hollywood has truly lost one of the good ones today. No-one could ever hold a candle to Army.
