Comme Ca

Miss Kate's birthday dinner was at Comme Ca, a new French brasserie in the old Noura Cafe space on Melrose (right next to Farrow & Ball). I had yummy (I can't say that word without picturing Lisa trying to kill Rachel Ray) butter lettuce salad and duck confit with spaetzle (ie overdone scrambled egg) and a slightly too vinegary red cabbage with carroway, but overall delicious and worth it. Black panelled walls, creamy paint, black and white photographs resting in black frames on the picture ledge. All very Restoration Hardware. Challenged by the bathroom faucets and the fact that men and women shared sinks (not loos - those were separate). I think I must be a prude. Miss J was lovely as ever in divine slate-colored silk. We discussed becoming invisible as we're all beginning to hit that certain age.
