Chuang Yen Temple

Minky said to me at the end of the day yesterday "It was a good day to visit the Buddhist Temple." That's about right, isn't it. We stood in a room with a huge Buddha, a Buddha that reached up to the ceiling and he was surrounded by 10,000 other little Buddhas, creating almost a mantle of them, hovering around his shoulders. We stopped for a moment, to see what it felt like, just for a bit, when we weren't observing, or searching or taking pictures. It felt pretty incredible in that room. The mix was odd, half overpowering goodness and half cheesy Chinatown chic, complete with faux flowers and gold foil.

Later, as we sat on the porch trying to take in the news about Briar's death, there was only one thought in my head -- she will just become part of all this beauty. I don't know exactly what that means but it is what I believe.
