Today, my father would be 95. He was born March 4, 1914 and died March 29, 1999. On his birthday party, which we threw for him when he was 85, the lights went out at about 9pm. It was a power cut that lasted all night. This wasn't a sign that he was about to die, it was a sign that everything was going to be okay. He had me bring candles into the dining room, and opened more wine and we drank claret in the candlelight and laughed.
