Joker One

Joker One by Donovan Campbell, is a memoir by a former Marine who served three combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. A Princeton grad, he led his platoon, Joker One, through a hellish deployment in Iraq. Here is the segment he did with Terry Gross on Fresh Air. Here is a review from the NY Times, including the first chapter. You can also find an interview with Patt Morrison on the KPCC site from March 22. I felt a bit sorry for him on that show. Morrison employs Babwa-type tactics that makes her guests cry, and it's a little uncomfortable listening to a big, bright, brave Marine sobbing at the end of a phone line while recounting his most harrowing moments in combat.
