A Slippery Year

The first chapter of Melanie Gideon's excellent memoir, A Slippery Year ran in a slightly altered version in the New York Times' Modern Love column. You can read it here. I talked rather too much about the book, I fear, at last night's book club meeting when we should've been discussing The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. "I didn't finish the book" I say lamely (although I'd planned to spend the previous afternoon doing just that) because the truth is, I was nose-deep in Gideon's book which, dear reader, speaks to me. Yup, I've been in California that long. And I have no apology.
