The glamorous life of Janet de Cordova (wife of Tonight Show executive Freddie de Cordova) is chronicled in the March 2011 Vanity Fair by Matt Tyrnauer. My friend Jack Deamer, who was her decorator, is quoted liberally (and frequently hilariously) in the piece. While these stories of Hollywood lives are marvelously titillating (the vodka and caviar pasta, the Baccarat crystal, the endless Armani suits in Jordan almond shades, the lunches at Il Piccolino, the money stuffed into the mattresses) one can't help but feel the melancholy. The story, a rollicking tale -- a must-read -- is here.

Loved the piece. Devoured it! I remember hearing a couple of those stories from Jack -- the one about the ostrich feathers on the curtains -- when he was working on her house in Trousdale and wishing I could be a fly on the wall in one of those rooms! xx
I read this in vanity fair, what a heartbreaking piece.
