Darkness

It's damp, dark and 5.36 and I am on a train to London. Today the sunshine flirted with us and gave way to rain, snow and hail. All ephemeral. Henley-on-Thames, Shiplake, Wargrave, Twyford. Billy Eilish swept the Grammys. Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and seven other souls died in a helicopter crash over Agoura. Everyone in LA and probably fans around the world are sad. My children are devastated. They grew up with Kobe. They worshipped him. Even tried to name the damn dog after him. The pillars of light around LAX shone in gold and purple last night, a fact that made me immensely melancholic. He united a city. (May have also behaved badly) but inspired so many. People broke down in the middle of grocery shopping in West Hollywood, in Pacoima, Woodland Hills, Orange. Every prayed it wasn't true. Everyone hoped it was a mistake.

"Life is too short. Forgive and move on." - Kobe Bryant
