Madelyn Dunham, 1922-2008

Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, the woman who raised him, died peacefully in her sleep this morning. She was suffering from cancer. He told a crowd in North Carolina that she'd "gone home." I'm sure she's looking out for him, as she always has, from where she now is. It's going to be a strange, bittersweet victory tomorrow.
