A giant white horse by artist Mark Wallinger will be installed at Ebbsfleet, Kent as the winner of the public art project nicknamed Angel of the South. The horse will stand at 33 times life size, on all four hooves.
Another iconic white horse is cut out of the chalk hills of Wiltshire in Uffington and another in Cherhill. The white horse holds an iconic place in British mythology. Additionally, a white horse is believed to be the last incarnation of Vishnu. Buddha is said to have left this physical plane riding a white horse. Artist Wallinger puts it this way:
"At the end of the day, it's just a horse in the field but it's a symbol that's spectacular."
