IEL

It's Easter Saturday and we're going to spend the whole day at IEL at Hansen Dam, the horse show where all the schools in the area compete against each other. Everyone complains about overcrowding and bad conditions and long waits and blah blah blah, but I rather enjoy them. Is there really anything better than being outside all day watching horses jump fences with the backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains and the faintest glimmer of last snow? Although it's gray and overcast in Los Angeles this morning, one must remember to slather on sunscreen because the sun is already very strong. Yesterday we had thunder and lightning and all kinds of weather excitement.

Pictured left is Minky, 14, with Toska, a lovely Dutch mare we're borrowing for a month. Artie will be ridden by her friend Kaley (a match made in heaven).

Wow. I don't know horses (if I'm honest they scare me a little, god knows why!), but that one is beautiful!
