One a penny, two a penny

I promise this will be the very last time I mention hot cross buns, but, I've realized that by adding a heaped teaspoon of ground cardamom to the recipe and halving the required amount of allspice I have managed to create a rather festive, bun-like form of julekake the delicious Norwegian tea bread that one eats sliced and slathered in butter. My mother even suggests adding some ground cloves, which I will try next time. Also, my oven can convention bake, so I lowered the temp by 20 degrees and the cooking time by 20%. They are delicious though.

Many thanks to be had here from many people with good advice: My Mamma, my sister @slatehall, @Charlie Circus for Paddington recipe & encouragement, @LibertyLndnGirl (whose original posting appealed to my deep-seated gluttony & nostalgia -- a terrible combination), @jmoshay the Maharishi who helped me distinguish between the 14 different kinds of flour in our pantry (he's the baker, I'm definitely not) & @curtsmith Mr Smith & @protagonistweet Mr Leshem for endless lewd encouragement.
