On this day in four years ago

August 1, 2005

This morning, before the rain, when everything was still and no-one was awake, we went out, the children and I in Noony's little boat, to the island that they discovered, an exciting pirates island with coves and bays and raspberries and rosebay willowherb. We clambered up rocks and found a poor old codfish with his telltale goatee on his chinny chin chin, practically all that was left of him but his backbone and tale. Three gulls flew off as we approached. "Gross" said Minky. "Eww" said Rams. "Everyone has to enjoy a tasty breakfast" I say, holier than thou. There were twenty one jelly fish we counted on the way out. We stepped over them on the sand and around the ones that had caught their tentacles on the seaweed as we pushed the little boat out. If every one of God's creature has a purpose, I can't for the life of me think what He put the orange stinging jelly fish on this earth for. However, as Noony points out, if they were all removed, the ocean's ecosytem would go haywire.
