Los Angeles has the distinguished honor of being the home of Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold. His
99 Things To Eat In LA Before You Die in the LA Weekly has been thrown down as a challenge. I intend to work my way through his list, um, methodically. High on the list is
Langer's hot pastrami, a delight I was introduced to by director James Gray many years ago. Langer's simply has the best pastrami (and rye bread which they bake in-house) you'll find anywhere in the world. Also, Zoe Nathan's
Huckleberry which I've swooned over
in this blog many times. (Woops, it's not open on Mondays -- twice I've made that mistake).
Don't forget Jonathan Gold's essay in
Saveur this month where he declares "Los Angeles is the best place in the world to eat at the moment."
I believe him.

i came to your blog to ask you if you had read the latest issue of Saveur mag- of course you have :) LA seems like a city one can live in forever but never discover all the wonderful gastronomic delights it has to offer- a little bit like Pakistan and Italia ;) x shayma
