I just deactivated my Facebook account. The idea came to me as I was spraying the plastic mat from the back of the car, where the dogs sit (and throw up) with my garden hose, in the sunlight, and I thought "I'm happier outside than in" and "Life is short" and "Time is our most precious commodity" and other such cliches. And then I stared at the little wild strawberry bush and marveled that it was still bearing fruit in November and I thought about the shocking pink roses I just saw down on Willow Glen. And did I mention that it's Fred birthday today? So if you need me, you know where to find me.
Love,
Miss W

I might have to follow suit. You're the second person in the past two days to talk about this notion of not really living reality because of technology related circumstances. Maybe someone's trying to tell me something...
Please tell me you're not leaving Twitter as well. I don't know if I could take that. xo
@AQ It just became too much, you know? Just needed a little Lenten break in the middle of November.
@Wzzy Don't worry, I'm still your twittering friend!
x
I'm kind of having that thought myself. I really only stay with it for our youngest in Californa and high school buds. I think Jimmy Kimmel is having a unfriend day or something like that soon. Good timing!
People keep asking me why I did this and it's hard to explain. It's something I used to give up for Lent, somewhat smugly. It's a feeling I can't shake that the parallel universe it creates isn't always a healthy, happy one.
I deleted my Facebook account three months ago and haven't regretted it for a second. It just wasn't fit for my purposes, and the 'friend' thing got up my nose. Call me a snob, if you will, but my definition of a 'friend' and Facebook's are poles apart. :-)
i think about doing it every day.
I don't say it much but I do enjoy your blog. I am around 185 friends, I have no intention of going past 200 I just can't keep up. I do chose who I friend carefully, as well as the info. I share on the web even on my blog. When I chose to write I decided that in order to push my blog I must have a Facebook and Twitter presence. I don't have to live there, just visit. Easier said than done. What I must always remember is that I started this entire project for fun and when it stops being fun, I am done.
Thanks again for posting and enriching the world( ok me)
