Both horses in our family, Toska and Fred, can be traced back to the Byerly Turk (1680) and the Darley Arabian (1702). My daughter is unimpressed. "If only three horses started the modern thoroughbred line, then of course our horses would be related to one, if not all of them." The thoroughbred and warmblood records and family trees are kept with meticulous precision.
Lateran, the grey Trakehner who is Fred's great great great great grandfather, bears an uncanny resemblance to him, even after so many generations.
