white poppies in los feliz

In just a week, a field of papery white poppies has bloomed, just off the Commonwealth trail in Griffith Park. I take the hill path because it's steeper and we're less likely to run into other dogs which is useful with my old man Pepper who wants to shower everyone he meets with love and humping. On the right, half way up, we saw these, nearly an acre of them, blooming the size of saucers, taller than me, with Midi-yellow centers. I was alone and couldn't share my astonishment with anyone, but you, dear reader. I felt a bit like Dorothy.

Does anyone know the proper name for these huge, white poppies?

We used to call them Scots Bonnets. Beautiful

Scotch bonnets. Yes! Los Angeles is particularly beautiful now, with everything still a little damp and green, but summer comes fast.
Thanks so much for your comments.
