Nepali spices

I couldn't resist posting this image from my old school friend Jenny who lives in Kathmandu.  She has one of the best instagram feeds and I learn something new from her every day.  (This is the beauty of instagram: you can follow people from all around the world, an astounding array of personal, intimate, funny, sad and universal moments captured on film.) This is what she says about this image:

Spices for sale. Nepalis love spicy food. Many people buy fresh spices from the roadside hawkers who line the streets around every marketplace. Spices are sold by volume using traditional measuring pots called manapathi. The little pots on top of these spices are half and quarter mana.
