Saturday lunch at Bergdorf's with the mini-whistle & the mini-hazard

I disagree with my lovely friend Eddie Hazzard about the food at Bergdorf's. When I'd gotten over the initial annoyance at not being seated until "the whole party is here" (that is sooo TGIFriday!) we had fabo devilled eggs spiked with dijon, served with watercress and rolled up plastic ham, just like something out of a 50s cookbook with a red and white gingham cover, followed by lobster salad, which is the inside of a lobster roll on some lettuce leaves, minus the bread. E's chopped salad (which she asked very nicely for them NOT to chop but they did anyway, so it looked like a mound of massacred romaine with a few solitary pieces of dry chicken breast dotted about) did look awfully dull, I'll admit. It was fun to lunch with the upper east side ladies who do, as well as an ample serving of tourists who completely bonded with the fabulous boys on the table next to ours. If I'd known it was group, I'd have brought my special sharing stone. But the very best thing about the restaurant (named, I believe, the catchy "BG" -- gedditt??) was the wallpaper which is being modelled most decorously by Minky in the picture.
