Sullivan Canyon Fire Road

Downtown LA looms like Atlantis center right
Oak tree, mid-way down Sullivan Canyon fire road
Miss W is happiest, as always, sitting in a tree

Be careful what you wish for. I'm know to brag about never seeing rattlesnakes (and I hike in the hills most days). But today a great big one rose Cobra-like from its curled position and rattled its tail like maraccas.  The poor lesser and greater spotted jumped full out of their skins and came scuttling back to me, thank goodness.
