What the world needs now

my first night of insomnia since coming back from the uk. awake and worrying about the fools in florida who want everyone to burn the quran on september 11. how can burning be anything but divisive? and then reading the dalai lama on compassion:

My true religion, my simple faith is in love and compassion. There is no need for complicated philosophy, doctrine, or dogma. Our own heart, our own mind, is the temple. The doctrine is compassion. Love for others and respect for their rights and dignity, no matter who or what they are - these are ultimately all we need.

(with sleep comes fullness, hope, optimism, creativity. without it, we are empty vessels, papery, thin & fragile.)

love is such a simple idea, isn't it?

“But [since] good and evil cannot be equal, repel [evil] with something that is better and lo! he between whom and yourself was enmity [may then become] as though he had [always] been close [to you], a true friend.” (Quran 41:34)
